Romania has already achieved its renewable energy target for 2020 – ABIEC

Romania has already achieved this year the renewable energy target undertaken for 2020, i.e. 24% of consumption, so subsidies in this sector must be reduced, President of the Association of the Big Industrial Energy Consumers (ABIEC) Marian Nastase stated on Monday at a press conference. “Romania has completed, in two years, its plan for 10 years. Thus, we will pay during 2013-2020 the maximum price for subsidies for renewable energy. The price we pay because we are leaders in Europe in terms of renewable energy is losing competitiveness of Romanian products abroad”, Nastase said. The European Commission has planned that 20% of the energy consumption be from renewable sources in 2020. Romania has committed that 24% of consumption in 2020 be from green energy.
