The study for the power plant in Rovinari to be ready this autumn

The feasibility for the thermal power plant to be built by China Huadian Engineering in Rovinari will be ready in September, Laurentiu Ciurel, managing director of Oltenia Energy Complex, stated. The coal-fired group with an installed power of 600MW is an investment estimated at EUR 1bn. Mr. Ciurel specified: “During the working visit to China, which ended last week, I had meetings during which I discussed about the project. The project is on schedule and the Chinese side has communicated that the feasibility study would be ready in September. Thus, this autumn both parties will be able to make an investment decision and the project company will be established”. Oltenia complex, which includes the power plants in Craiova, Rovinari and Turceni, but also the former National Company of Lignite Oltenia, will participate in the project company for the new power plant with in-kind contribution (assets from the current location of the investment). Thus, Oltenia Complex will hold a 7-8% stake in the project company, Laurentiu Ciurel estimates. Energy produced by the Chinese company at the thermal power plant to be built in Rovinari will be largely exported to Austria and Turkey.
