Samsung became Romania’s largest investor in solar energy, after a project worth EUR 100mln

 

South Korean giant Samsung, a business worth around USD 247bn, became the most powerful investor in solar parks in Romania, after completing an investment of EUR 100mln in Slobozia commune, Giurgiu County. On average, for each MW in a solar park it takes between 2.3 and 2.5 hectares, so the entire project occupies an area of approximately 112.5 hectares. Data from the Trade Register show however that a 78% stake in the project company is controlled by Solluce Romania 1 BV, registered in Netherlands. In turn, Solluce Romania 1 BV is owned 80% by Samsung Corp., being one of the companies affiliated to Samsung Group, as data published by the Korean giant at the end of H1/2013 show.
