Romania’s Romgaz to seek gas in Poland with San Leon Energy

Aurelian Oil&Gas, the British company with which Romgaz has under concession a gas field in Poland, has been bought by San Leon Energy, a company controlled by George Soros, according to information published by Economica.net. The Romanian gas producer Romgaz is now associated with UK’s San Leon Energy in the exploration of Sierkirki gas field in Poland, with estimated reserves of 12bcm (i.e. Romania’s production in one year). The project is three-year old and the initial partner was the British company Aurelian Oil&Gas, with a presence in Romania as well. It was bought in late January by San Leon, also a British company, which specializes in exploration and exploitation of resources in emerging countries. It is owned by U.S. billionaire of Hungarian origin George Soros, through the investment fund Quantum Partners.
