Romania’s Nuclearelectrica wants to participate in the Tarnita hydropower project, as minority shareholder

Nuclear power producer Nuclearelectrica wants to participate in the Tarnita hydropower plant project as minority shareholder, according to the CEO of the state-owned company, Daniela Lulache. “We are willing and interested to analyze this project, as potential of activity diversification, from the perspective of a minority shareholder”, Lulache stated in a press conference on Nuclearelectrica listing on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. The project is estimated at over EUR 1bn, but the investment hasn’t started yet. For the moment, Lulache stated that for the construction of nuclear reactors 3 and 4 in Cernavoda Nuclearelectrica holds talks with companies from several continents, but did not provide further details. She specified however that this project continues to be a priority for Nuclearelectrica. “Our concern is to make it bankable and become a reality”, Lulache added, referring to nuclear reactors 3 and 4. Nuclearelectrica is state-owned, through the Department for Energy.
