Hidroelectrica to put up for sale half of the micro hydropower stations owned

 

Energy producer Hidroelectrica, state-owned company currently in insolvency, will put up for sale, as of June, 88 micro hydropower stations, out of almost 160 total units still owned. “The sale process will be carried out in stages, as of June 2013, by transparent and competitive means, in compliance with the Romanian legislation in force”, a Hidroelectrica press release reads. The sale of micro hydropower plants (units with an installed power of up to 10MW) was approved by the General Meeting of Shareholders of the company on March 13th. The 88 units have a total installed power of 58MW. Hidroelectrica operates hydropower plants with a total capacity of over 6,000MW. Hidroelectrica started to sell the first micro hydropower stations in 2004 and by 2008 it sold 81 units, for EUR 60mln. As of 2008 to date, the company did not sell micro hydropower stations. The state-owned company has been under insolvency for almost a year.
