Household consumers and thermal power plants to consume only 4.7% of imported gas in May

Household consumers and thermal power plants supplying heat for the population will use only 4.7% of imported gas in May, so that the final gas invoice does not change, according to documents of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE). Thus, 95.3% of their consumption will come from the domestic production of the country. We recall that the price of Romanian gas is around USD 160/TCM, while import resources cost over USD 400/TCM. Each month, ANRE adjusts the amount of imported gas received by the population and thermal power plants, in order to keep the gas invoice at a constant level.

More Russian gas for the industry

In turn, industrial consumers receive more imported gas. In May, they will use 29.5% Russian gas and 70.5% domestic resources. Overall, Romania imports from Russia about 25% of its annual gas consumption.
