Ion Sturza sold his stake in Rompetrol Moldova

 

Former Prime Minister of Moldova, Ion Sturza sold his 20% share pack in Rompetrol Moldova, according to an announcement posted on iPetrol.md Facebook account. The 20% stake was sold to the Rompetrol Group, owned by the Kazakh company KazMunaiGas. The value of the transaction is estimated at 1.5 million USD, but other sources speak of twice as much. Ion Sturza was Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova in 1999, and in 2002 he facilitated Rompetrol’s entry on the Moldavian market. He run the business for a while, then became vice president of Rompetrol Group. As vice president of Rompetrol Group, he was one of the main negotiators with KazMunaiGas for the company sale. Rompetrol Moldova is the fifth largest oil company in Moldova, owning a network of 50 stations.
