Galati municipality may take over Electrocentrale thermal power plant

After two failed attempts to privatize Electrocentrale Galati, the Galati City Hall will take over the thermal power plant. At least that’s the latest decision regarding the fate of the thermal power plant, owned by Termoelectrica, decision made following the discussion held on Monday by city mayor Marius Stan with PM Victor Ponta. “Mayor Marius Stan obtained from PM Victor Ponta the approval and support for a quick takeover by Galati City Hall of SC Electrocentrale SA, for the optimal administration of both production and distribution of heat in Galati”, a communique issued by Galati City Hall reads. Also, the local authorities promise that by taking over the heat producer they will be able to supply heat for the consumers in Galati municipality at prices down at least 10% compared to current prices.
