Energy Minister Constantin Nita: Hidroelectrica could be split into two-three companies

Minister Delegate for Energy Constantin Nita said Romania needed integrated companies producing electricity from several sources, in order to be competitive at regional level. As far as Hidroelectrica is concerned, he said there was a possibility to be split into 2-3 companies. “The important thing is to create 2-3 powerful companies, playing a role on the stock exchange or, at the same time, being able to compete on the electricity market. Market price will always be created by supply and demand”, Constantin Nita explained. Romanian authorities need to create in the energy sector companies with an important role in the region, the minister stated.
