Constantin Nita discussed with the officials of the U.S. Embassy about Romania’s priorities in the energy sector

 

Minister Delegate for Energy Constantin Nita received on February 7th a delegation from the U.S. Embassy, on which occasion he presented Romania’s main priorities in the energy sector. The discussions were attended by: Charge d’Affaires of the U.S. diplomatic mission Duane Butcher; Economic Advisor Susan Garro; Commercial Attaché Jim Cunningham. According to a communique submitted by the Ministry of Economy on Friday, Minister Delegate for Energy Constantin Nita presented Romania’s main priorities for this sector: ensuring energy security, promoting investments in order to increase electricity production capacity and to discover new hydrocarbon reserves; balancing the green certificates market in line with the realities of energy infrastructure; deregulation of the domestic energy market; developing new electricity production capacities from renewable sources, but also coal-fired; the project of reactors 3 and 4 at Cernavoda. In terms of strategic European projects for ensuring energy security, Nabucco and AGRI, Minister Constantin Nita reiterated the commitment of authorities in Bucharest on Romania’s active involvement in achieving these projects.
