Nabucco Pipeline Loses Bid For Azeri Gas
A centerpiece of the European Union’s push to limit its reliance on Russian natural gas came to an unsuccessful conclusion Wednesday after the Nabucco West pipeline consortium lost a contest to ship Azeri gas from the Turkish border into the heart of Europe. Austrian oil and gas company OMV AG, one of the Nabucco partners, announced that the Shah Deniz consortium, which is developing the Caspian Sea gas and shipping it through Turkey, has rejected Nabucco as the preferred onward link to Europe.
