Romania’s energy watchdog has certified Transelectrica (BSE: TEL) as transmission and system operator in the energy field

The Regulatory Committee of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has decided the preliminary certification of Transelectrica as transmission and system operator of the National Energy System, according to a company communique, submitted on Monday to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE). Romania’s energy system operates after the “independent system operator” model, where the appointment of an operator takes place upon proposal of the owner of the transmission system, and its appointment is subject to approval of the European Commission, the communique also reads. The certification decision by ANRE, together with the related report and the entire documentation submitted by Transelectrica to support the certification application will be notified to the European Commission by ANRE.
