Romania’s TSO interested in DESFA privatization
As part of its development plans, SNTGN Transgaz SA has expressed an interest in participating, together with GRTgaz from France, in the privatization of the Greek natural gas transport operator DESFA. To this end, the consortium formed by Transgaz and GRTgaz has submitted a letter of intent to acquire 66% of the shares of DESFA that are subject to privatization organized by the Hellenic Republic’s Fund for the Development of Assets (HRADF). The sale of the majority stake in DESFA is part of the measures agreed by the Athens authorities with the European Commission and international financial institutions as part of the wider program for the recovery of the Greek economy and is confirmed as a key element of the reform package within the second revision of the Compliance Report prepared by the European Commission (https://ec.europa.eu/info/sites/info/files/compliance_report-to_ewg_2017_06_21.pdf). By partnering with GRTgaz in submitting the letter of interest in the competition for the selection of potential bid winners, confirmed through the official announcement of HRADF on 07.08.2017 (http://www.hradf.com/en), Transgaz expresses its intention to contribute to increasing the predictability of the European energy market. SNTGN Transgaz SA is the technical operator of the National Gas Transmission System and ensures the fulfillment under conditions of efficiency, transparency, safety, non-discriminatory access and competitiveness of the national strategy established for transport, international transit, natural gas dispatching, research and design in the field of transport Natural gas, in compliance with the legislation and the national and European standards of quality, performance, environment and sustainable development.
