OMV Petrom has put up for sale on the energy exchange, OPCOM, an amount of 175,200MWh of electricity with delivery next year, at a lower price than the offers of Oltenia Energy Complex. Auctions organized by Petrom will take place on August 23rd and the delivery period is January 1st – December 31st 2014. Petrom has divided this amount of energy into 4 packages of 43,800MWh each, at the minimum price of RON 178.5/MWh, while Oltenia Energy Complex has put up for sale energy at a minimum price of RON 184/MWh. Petrom also sells other two energy packages of 14,645MWh each, with RON 177/MWh, with delivery in the period September 1st – December 31st 2013. Petrom last year commissioned the gas-fired Brazi power plant, which has a capacity of 860MW and can provide 9% of Romania’s energy production. The Brazi power plant is the third cheapest energy producer in Romania, after Hidroelectrica and Nuclearelectrica.
