The Government of Moldova seeks MDL 800mln to extend the Iasi-Ungheni pipeline to Chisinau

Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline construction, which will be launched on August 27th, will have to be supported by building the gas trunkline on Ungheni-Chisinau direction, because the Capital has the largest gas consumers, the administration of the Ministry of Economy claims. According to the project, the capacity of Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline will allow the transport of 500mln cu m per year in a first phase and 1.5bcm of gas in the second phase. According to a note issued by the Ministry of Economy, the gas pipeline operation at the designed capacity can only be provided if a gas compressor station is built and the domestic gas transmission infrastructure is developed.
