RPIA: The European Commission investigates the emergency ordinance on renewable energy

The Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission has started the preliminary procedures to investigate the provisions of the GEO on support for renewable energy, upon request of the Romanian Photovoltaic Industry Association (RPIA), which believes that the new regulations are unclear, abusive and unconstitutional. “Our association has notified the DG Competition, showing the Government’s intention to implement measures of distorted nature for the electricity market. Following the notification, DG Competition informed the association, on June 13th, that it had started a preliminary procedure to investigate the measures included in the legislative act proposed by the Government”, a RPIA communique reads. The association mentions that it is currently analyzing all the legal ways available at national and international level to stop the emergency ordinance, which postpones the granting of green certificates to investors in micro hydropower stations, wind power plants and solar parks.
