Romania’s electricity exports went up 27%

 

Romania’s electricity exports increased in the first months of this year by 27% more than in the same period last year, after coupling the domestic market with the markets in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, according to a communique of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE). During January – May 2015, Romania exported 4.5TWh of electricity, compared to 3.5TWh in 2014, and imported an amount of 1.7TWh, compared to 1.35TWh. As of November 2014, Romania has been operating in coupled regime with the markets in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary through the price coupling mechanism, project known as 4M MC.
