Romania imported over 1.21 million toe of crude oil in the first two months

Romania imported in the first two months of 2017, a quantity of crude oil of 1.211 million tons of oil equivalent, by 92,800 toe (8.3%) more than in the similar period of 2016, according to data centralized by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). Oil production totaled 562,900 toe, being by 4.8% (28,500 toe) lower than in the similar period of last year. According to the draft Energy Strategy, published on the website of the Ministry of Energy, it is estimated that oil production will continue its slow downward trend between 2030 and 2050, from 22TWh to 13TWh (1.93 to 1.15 million tons of oil equivalent). In the ambitious scenario of decarbonization combined with low oil prices, oil production witnesses a turning point in 2035, starting from which a sharp decline takes place, towards zero.
